Josh Black Named Executive Chef of River Terrace Inn

Charming boutique hotel River Terrace Inn, picturesquely nestled in the heart of Napa Valley on the banks of the Napa River, has announced the appointment of Josh Black as executive chef to oversee the food and beverage program of the inn’s acclaimed ALBA Restaurant. An inveterate traveler who has trained under renowned chefs around the world, Chef Black brings an expansive culinary expertise and a passion for food and wine to ALBA’s innovative and diverse menu.

Chef Black has honed his culinary skills under an impressive list of internationally renowned chefs, including Neil Perry, Simon Gault, Alvin Leung, Gareth Stewart and many more.  “My love of travel has had a major influence on my cooking,” noted Black. “Studying cuisines around the world has greatly enhanced my ability to create flavors that impart original and unique qualities to my dishes, and I’m excited for the opportunity to bring those skills to ALBA in the heart of Napa’s famed wine country.”

Equally passionate about food as well as wine and spirits, Chef Black earned his Certified Sommelier Examination (CMS) Level 2 in New Zealand. In 2017, Chef Black opened Bridges & Bourbon, a molecular cocktail bar in Pittsburgh that quickly garnered attention for Black’s impressive wine program and inventive cocktails. Shortly after, Chef Black was offered the prestigious position of executive banquet chef at Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, which led to his appointment as Task Force Executive Chef for Kimpton.

“It is an honor to have Chef Josh Black join us as executive chef of ALBA Restaurant. Our goal at ALBA is to provide our guests with consistently high-quality, unmatched hospitality, and with Chef Black at the helm, we're confident that our guests will have a truly elevated, distinctive experience,” said Jenny Toomer, River Terrace Inn’s General Manager.
