Chapel Hill's Crook's Corner to Launch Monthly Supper Club Program

On Wednesday, July 31, celebrated Chapel Hill, North Carolina, restaurant Crook's Corner will launch a monthly family-style Supper Club program, offering a different culinary theme and experience every month. Prepared by Chef Justin Burdett and his team, menus will use fresh, seasonal ingredients to explore a chef, local producer, or topic each month. Supper Club will also offer opportunities to revisit some of Crook’s Corner previous fan favorite dishes.

"The goal is to create a relaxed, lively and joyous shared meal experience rather than a formal or fancy affair," says Crook's Corner General Manager Susie Williamson. "While there's no one set rubric, each month we'll feature local food producers and local ingredients as much as possible."

On Wednesday, July 31, the inaugural Supper Club, which is set to begin at 6 p.m., will celebrate beloved chef Bill Smith and some of his most celebrated dishes throughout his almost four-decade long career leading the Crook’s Corner kitchen. Chef Smith will attend the dinner to answer questions and, likely, tell some great stories from his impressive career.

The July 31 Supper Club dinner will feature a three-course meal served family style, allowing guests to mingle and discuss with friends, new and old. The first course will include White Bread Heirloom Tomato Sandwiches. For the main course, guests will be presented with Catfish Amandine with Baked Cheese Grits and Purple Slaw. Finally, for dessert, guests will be treated to Nancy McDermot’s Classic Chess Pie with a scoop of Smith's Pickled Peach Ice Cream on top.

The July 31 Supper Club is $45 per person, plus tax and gratuity. Advance reservations are required; limited seats are available. The regular menu will still be available during Supper Club events for those guests preferring to order their current favorites.
