Benjy’s Being Reinvented After 25 Years

Benjy Levit, owner of benjy’s, will reinvent his restaurant concept after 25 years in Rice Village. The restaurant closes for renovations September 30 – October 2, with the grand re-opening on Thursday, October 3 with dinner starting at 5 p.m.

The new concept highlights a completely transformed menu featuring soul-filling food using stellar ingredients. Executive Chef Mike Potowski, who has been with Levit’s concepts for over 10 years, will run the kitchen. Levit enlisted award-winning chef Seth Siegal Gardner, formerly of Pass & Provisions, to consult on the opening menu. Together they will innovate benjy’s new menu by creating “social food”, plates best experienced and enjoyed while sharing with friends.

The new menu will feature a variety of proteins and an array of in-season vegetable sides, perfect for sharing. A sneak peek of the innovative menu include: Smoked Trout Roe with Cauliflower Cream and Potato and Beef Chips, Carrot and Crispy Rice Salad with Salsa Verde and a Smoked Bone Broth with Blood Bros BBQ dumplings.

Designed by Aaron Rambo—the award-winning team behind The Classic’s interiors—the reimagined space will feature a lighter, airier feel, inspired by the laid-back way of life on the west coast.

“It’s always been important to me to stand out, be ambitious, with that in mind and after 25 years, we are thrilled to re-open as a new concept to our guests, we think benjy’s new look and menu will provide a great dining experience for both our long-time clientele while also resonating with new customers,” says Levit.

The cocktail menu also gets reimagined. New bar manager Shannon Beehner, who worked at OKRA Charity Saloon, is creating a rollout plan for benjy’s social bar program.

After its brief closure, benjy’s will reemerge Thursday October 3, 5pm - 10pm for dinner and happy hour resumes Friday, October 4, 4pm – 7pm.
