Bareburger's Takes Step Toward Augmented Reality Menus

Bareburger, the better-for-you burger chain known for their commitment to serving food made with fresh, local ingredients, has taken a huge stride toward embracing 3D technology with the announcement of their future plans to introduce an Augmented Reality Menu. Bareburger has partnered with Kabaq 3D Food to develop a Snapchat filter that currently allows customers to experience an immersive 3D photorealistic visual of different menu items—viewable on the very table in front of them—making it easier for guests to decide more confidently what to order. The augmented reality burgers, a playful way of enhancing the overall dining experience at Bareburger by offering a unique sensory experience, can be shared with friends and family in real time via Snapchat.

In the coming weeks, Bareburger will also launch an Augmented Reality giveaway via Snapchat to offer customers a “taste” of their future technology plans. From April 16-22nd, 3,600 lucky guests will find a Golden Snapcode (100 available at each location) in their takeout or delivery to-go bags. Using Snapchat, winners can scan the Snapcode to reveal their winning item (burger, macho fries or fries and onion rings) to appear on their screen in the 3D format. Winners will bring their ticket to any National or Dubai Bareburger locations to retrieve their item.

Anyone is able to play around with the filter if they can get a hold of it—only guests with a physical ticket will be able to redeem it in store. With social media and food visualization on the rise, where everyone “eats” with their eyes, Bareburger has become the first major restaurant group to introduce this augmented reality technology via Snapchat, bringing their awardwinning burgers to life. Bareburger has future hopes that 3D Augmented Reality Menus will eventually replace physical paper menus altogether as part of their eco-friendly initiative. This will allow customers to visualize what menu items such as burgers and fries will look like before ordering to help ensure that every customer’s expectations are exceeded.
